not long landed from a teaching in Wales
I am full
to the brim of juicy and rich
waiting to compost
to feed my new found roots
full of new found friends
found with a heart sung softer
And
a blank page waits
and
thickened thoughts loiter
words abscond
sentences hide from paragraphs
themes float but I can’t reach them
felled Sycamore
non-negotiable Autumn
the need to sing
for Women to reclaim the stories
the Grit of Menopause
of Earth and Dark and Truth
what shall I make for tea
the coffee I can not have
to do’s and strikethroughs
a fire tonight
hands up
nothing but honest
Just Send.
And to make up for my tardy, I offer a story I recorded for my tribe when my broken foot kept me from our fireside. Sat at home I lit a candle and told The Dream Weavers to my phone for them to find when they stepped back into signal. Telling stories is a very recent call, but one I am leaning into, it brings me joy.
The Inspirations
One to Impassion
This book is very relevant to two news headlines this week: the Right to Roam protest in the Borders Read about it here and the unfathomable felling of the Sycamore Gap Tree. Both speak to the collective disconnect from the land of England, the former a deep desire and love to be reconnected and the later displays a pathological relationship with the more-than-human beings with which we share the Earth. The author, Guy Shrubsole, recently won a Wainwright Prize for his second book The Lost Rainforests of Britain. Who Owns England? is his first book and it is superbly researched, illuminating and shocking. Guy is also a founding member of Right To Roam.

One to Sing With
(preferably with someone else!)
We Shall Be Known by Karisha Longaker of MaMuse, 2016. The song came to her in a dream and it felt so familiar she was convinced it already existed and almost didn’t release it.
Lyrics
We shall be known by the company we keep
by the ones who circle round to tend these fires
We shall be known by the ones who sow and reap
the seeds of change alive from deep within the earth
It is time now
It is time now that we thrive
It is time we lead ourselves into the well
It is time now, and what a time to be alive
In this great turning we shall learn to lead in love
In this great turning we shall learn to lead in love
For teachable parts
